PITMAN, N.J. (CBS) — A man, his wife and their young son are dead following what investigators in Gloucester County believe is double murder-suicide.

The disturbing discovery was made at about 10 a.m. Tuesday inside a home on Kenton Avenue in Pitman, New Jersey.

According to investigators, officers with the Pitman Police Department found three bodies inside after going to the home for a well-being check.

Authorities say the bodies of 49-year-old Francis Adolf, his 44-year-old wife, Bonnie, and their six-year-old son, Francis Adolf Jr., were found inside the home.

According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, Francis Adolf left writings indicating he intended to harm himself and family members. Investigators say there was no reported domestic violence history between the Adolfs.

Autopsies to determine the exact cause of death for all three are pending.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pitman Police Department are investigating the incident.
