PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Four new movies turned up at multiplexes over the weekend.

Moviegoers flocked to Elysium over the weekend and new attractions ruled the roost. Elysium, a science fiction thriller starring Matt Damon, earned an estimated $31-million on its debut weekend for a solid first-place finish.

The next three slots were also claimed by new features.

The runnerup was the comedy, We're the Millers, with Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. It took in an estimated $27-million.

Third was the animated adventure, Planes, with $23-million.

And the fantasy sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, placed fourth with a total of $15-million.

Rounding out the top five was last week's ticket-selling leader, 2 Guns, with $11-million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were slightly ahead of last year's pace.
