Little Egg Harbor Twp., N.J., (CBS) – A woman from Ocean County who took part in a Powerball pool is now a multimillionaire.
Susan Nickel never thought the lottery ticket would ever really amount to anything.
The party has been going for two nights at the Nickel house where Susan and her husband Ed found out they won a part of the $448 million jackpot.
“Wonderful. I’m still on a cloud,” said Nickel.
She says it hasn’t really hit home she’s now a multimillionaire. She played the lottery with 15 of her Ocean County maintenance coworkers. She didn’t believe it when they told her she won, but her new found fortune hasn’t changed her immediate plans too much.
“I went to work and they said last night, ‘oh, last night we won the lottery,’” said Nickel. “It’s wonderful, absolutely wonderful. You always dream it, and you think that’s not ever going to ever be me,” said
Nickel says she’ll work for another year before she retires, then Susan and her husband will take the trip they’ve always dreamed of over 45 years of marriage – cross country in their RV.
“Nobody ever expected to win and they’re all really good coworkers and they’re all taking it the same way I am, trying to take it one day at a time,” Nickel said.
Now Nickel and her family are enjoying every minute trying not to worry too much about what comes next. They can relax knowing their share of the jackpot comes to more than $3.5 million.
