Police: Skimming Devices Found in New Castle Gas Pumps

NEW CASTLE, Del., (CBS) – Police say two skimming devices were found in gas pumps in New Castle on Friday morning.

Delaware State Police say the devices were located at the Hess gas station on the 500 block of North DuPont Highway.

According to police, Weights and Measures inspectors of the Delaware Department of Agriculture found the devices during an inspection of the fuel pumps. The inspectors notified troopers, who removed the devices.

Police say the skimming devices were inside the payment mechanism of the pumps.  The devices are designed to record information from credit cards used at the pumps.

Investigators say it is not known if these devices stole credit card information.
