HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) — Pennsylvania attorney gGeneral Kathleen Kane is tamping down speculation that she might jump into the already crowded field of Democratic candidates for Pennsylvania governor.

The Tribune-Review reports that during an appearance in Pittsburgh on Monday, Kathleen Kane indicated she has no interest in entering the race for governor.  Her comments came after speculation in recent weeks that she might do so, including one article comparing her meteoric rise in politics to that of President Obama.

Franklin and Marshall College political analyst Terry Madonna believes Kane will keep her pledge to serve her full term as attorney general.

“I think it would be politically dangerous and perhaps even disastrous should she break her pledge to the voters of this state,” Madonna said. “Secondly, running a gubernatorial campaign is very different than running for attorney general.”

Madonna believes jumping into the race for governor after having served less than a year in her current office would call into question decisions that Kane makes as attorney general.
