Suspect Charged In Theft of Equipment From Center City Community TV Studio

By Molly Daly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have announced an arrest in connection with the theft last month of equipment worth nearly $20,000 from a community television production house in center city.

Police say 51-year-old Henry Lee Johnson was arrested Saturday. He'd been recognized from surveillance images aired via local news outlets (including CBS-3 and CBS Philly) by a fellow resident at a halfway house in the 1300 block of Spring Garden Street.

The video was released last week in an effort to find the man who walked into the Philly Cam community television offices on the morning of July 22nd wearing a close-fitting Muslim-style cap, high-top sneakers, shorts, an orange t-shirt and matching backpack (see related story and video).

Officials say Johnson stepped into a studio and took two Fuji camera lenses and two focus modules, valued at $19,100, and put them in his backpack. He walked out a short time later.

Johnson is charged with theft and related offenses.
