Report: Blazers Assistant Vanterpool A 'Serious Candidate' For Sixers Job
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Sam Hinkie said that he'd rather get the right guy for the job, than hire someone quickly, when talking about the Sixers search for a head coach. Portland Trailblazers assistant coach David Vanterpool seems like he's got a chance to be that guy.
According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Vanterpool was in Philadelphia on Monday to interview for the job, and has emerged as a 'serious candidate.' Spurs assistant Brett Brown, and Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga, along with Vanterpool are the strongest external candidates, while Sixers assistant Michael Curry is thought to be the lone internal candidate.
Before joining the Blazers as an assistant coach, Vanterpool was the Director Of Player Development for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
