WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) – Police say an officer delivered a fellow officer’s baby early Sunday morning in Wilmington.

According to Wilmington police, officer Matthew Geiser’s wife, Stacy, began experiencing labor pains at their home at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officer Geiser called 911 when the couple realized she was experiencing a rapid delivery.

Officers Brian McCanney and Chris Cain arrived first to the scene. When they attempted to assist Stacy outside, she began actively delivering.

With Officer Cain and Officer Geiser by his wife’s side, Officer McCanney delivered six pound, seven ounce Sadie Marie at the Geiser’s home.

The mother and baby were then taken to Christiana Hospital.

Police say Stacy and Sadie are happy and healthy and are expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday.
