Pa. National Guard Soldiers Return Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was a special welcome home in University City Saturday for 150 Pennsylvania National Guard soldiers.

The soldiers were deployed to Kuwait where they conducted security in support of Middle East military operations. They’re the second group of the 55th Armor Brigade to return.

One soldier was mobbed by family members as soon as he got off the bus.

“Such a blessing to me,” mother Sherry Mahoney said. “I thank God that everybody got back safe. I’m so happy and excited. It’s been a long time.”

The National Guard soldiers represent armories in Philadelphia, Allentown, Harrisburg, Lewisburg, Lock Haven, Scranton and Williamsport.

Welcome home!
