Report: New Jersey Turnpike Has Highest Revenues Of Any Toll Road In North America

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – According to Toll Roads News, the New Jersey Turnpike is the clear leader when it comes to revenues for toll roads in North America.

The organization says that the New Jersey Turnpike made $992 million in 2012, beating the Pennsylvania Turnpike by $211 million.

Toll Roads News says that New Jersey's turnpike and the 407ETR, which runs north of the Toronto metro area, are neck and neck when it comes to profits.

The top seven toll roads reported by Toll Roads News are:

  1. New Jersey Turnpike
  2. Pennsylvania Turnpike
  3. 407ETR
  4. New York State Thruway
  5. Florida Turnpike Mainline
  6. Garden State Parkway, and
  7. Tristate Tollway IL

All of these roads make a combined $4.284 billion in revenues during 2012.
