The incident occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Route 100 near Hoffecker Road in North Coventry Township.

According to police, the suspect pulled the victim over and told her she was speeding.

Officials say the alleged impersonator then asked her to get out of her vehicle and searched the car.

Police say the suspect then drove away.

The impersonator has been described as a white male around 50 years-old with a mustache, goatee and salt and pepper hair. He had on a tan campaign style trooper hat, long sleeve, white shirt, an unknown type of badge and was driving an unidentified vehicle with flashing lights on the dashboard.

Officials want motorists to know if you are unsure that an unmarked police vehicle is an actual officer, you should stop in a well lit and populated area and dial 911 to confirm. They also say drivers can request a second officer in a marked vehicle for verification.

Police are asking anyone with information to cal the North Coventry Township Police Department at 610-323-8360.
