New Jersey Invites Musicians To Write A Shore Anthem

By Paul Kurtz

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) - The folks who created the "Stronger than the Storm" campaign are now looking for musicians to come up with a song that residents will embrace as a state anthem.

The song has to be an original.

"Any New Jersey original song composition that the artist or the group just believes conveys their feeling of summer at the shore," contest organizer Shannon Eis said. "And that's what we're trying to tap into."

Contestants can submit their songs via video and the entries are already coming in.

The winner will be announced September 4th and then it's showtime.

"The weekend after Labor Day, we'll be featuring a concert at the shore where the winner will get to perform alongside a notable act."

Voting is open to the whole country but you have to be New Jersey resident to enter the contest.
