Ocean City Residents, Vacationers Feel Dissed By ‘Awesome Boardwalk’ List

OCEAN CITY, NJ (CBS) – Budget Travel Magazine is out with a list of the 19 ‘Most Awesome Boardwalks’ in the country. Three of them are on the Jersey Shore, but folks in Ocean City are probably saying, “What gives? We should be on it, too.”
Ocean City, Maryland is on the list, but not Ocean City, New Jersey. Wildwood, Atlantic City and Point Pleasant made it. Rehoboth Beach in Delaware also gets high praise. California leads with four on the list of summer destinations, but most (13 of the 19) are along the East coast, from Old Orchard Beach Boardwalk in Maine to Disney World in Florida.
Along the busy, family-friendly Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk, folks were surprised.
“You have amusements for all ages, video games, miniature golf, great food, the beach is awesome and clean, and a great boardwalk,” says one vacationer.
“I’ve been coming to the Ocean City Boardwalk my entire life. I absolutely love it. It’s better than any of the other boardwalks, as far as I’m concerned,” says another.
Another woman walking the OC Boardwalk likens it to her favorite neighborhood restaurant: she wants to make sure it succeeds, but doesn’t want everyone to know about it.
“That’s kind of a secret that we can keep.”
