PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Germantown homeowner was awakened early Thursday by a noise and when he opened his eyes, there was a man standing over him. The intruder struck him over the head inside the bedroom of his home along the 4600 block of Wayne Avenue at about 5am.

After the homeowner was struck, he got up and fought off the intruder who then fled empty-handed.

Police were called but so far, no trace of the suspect has been found and he remains at large.

The homeowner did not require hospitalization.
