Trio Accused Of Using Taxi Cab To Steal ATV's In South Jersey

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) – Three suspects were taken into custody after investigators say they used a taxi cab to steal ATV's and an air compressor in south Jersey Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at the Buttonwood Village Apartment complex in the 400 block of S. Black Horse Pike in Blackwood, New Jersey.

According to authorities, officers with the Gloucester Township Police Department were called to the complex for the report of two suspects attempting to break into a maintenance shed.

When officers arrived, they spotted two suspects attempting to carry away an ATV that was reported to be in a shed of a neighborhood residence.

Upon seeing the officers, both of the suspects ran off. One was captured by police, but the second was able to escape.

While at the scene, officers spotted a taxi cab attempting to leave with two ATV's in the trunk.

The driver of the cab, Desiree Torres, as well as a passenger, Matthew Howard, were arrested and charged with the theft of the three ATV's and an air compressor that was reported to be missing from a shed on the property of the Buttonwood Village Apartment complex.

The third suspect was identified by police as 41-year-old Nevoro D. Young. Young is facing charges of Burglary, Conspiracy, Theft and Resisting Arrest.

Both Torres, 23, and Howard, 18, are facing charges of Burglary, Conspiracy and Theft.

All three are being held at the Camden County Jail.

The search for the fourth suspect is ongoing.
