PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Many people were outside Saturday hoping the thunderstorms stayed away, which turned out to be the case.
A lot of tourists were getting in some sites before the 4th of July weekend coming up, enjoying the nice weather. The bright sun was drenching some people so much they couldn’t let go of their umbrellas, even though the rain has stopped.
“It’s been pretty miserable weather, but it’s lovely today to be outside,” Lyn Lewis said. “Just enjoying the afternoon with some friends.”
Restaurants with outdoor seating welcomed this type of weather, as did newlyweds who prepare for that one special did you with hopes of picture perfect:
“We got a call yesterday from the wedding planner saying we needed a Plan B for the rain. We bought an extra tent and now we’ve got blazing sunshine,” newlywed Carly said.
Carly and her new husband, Mike, of Chicago, came back to Philadelphia to get married, in what turned out to be a beautiful day to have an outdoor wedding.
“I knew it was going to be a great day regardless of what happened,” Mike said. “They say rain is good luck and so if we had that, we would have good luck, if that we don’t, we have a beautiful day.”
The couple believes they have good luck even though it wasn’t raining, while a lot of other people felt lucky they had the chance to enjoy the lovely weather Saturday.
