PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A 24-year-old man was shot in South Philadelphia Wednesday morning after police say he refused to hand over his cell phone to a thief.

It happened in the 1600 block of South 7th Street at about 5:30 a.m.

According to investigators, the victim was returning home from work when he was confronted by the suspect. The suspect demanded the victim’s cell phone, but the victim initially refused to hand over his phone.
