PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As the current Phillies team finds itself less and less likely to find itself in the playoffs, the attention will turn toward the future. Though much of that attention will be focused on whether the team should trade its current core players for future prospects, some if it will certainly be given to Maikel Franco.
Franco, a 20 year-old third baseman, is 8-for-17 (.471) with five RBIs, and two home runs since being promoted to AA Reading from A Clearwater late last week. That includes a monster game on Sunday, when he went 4-5 with four RBIs against Richmond.
In his last ten games for both Reading and Clearwater, Franco is hitting .431 with seven home runs.
Franco has been in the Phillies organization since he was 17 years-old.
