Jackpot-Winning Powerball Ticket Worth $131.5 Million Sold in South Philadelphia

By Suzanne Monaghan, Oren Liebermann

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Lottery officials say a winning Powerball ticket was sold in South Philadelphia and is worth $131.5 million. Now they're waiting for the winner to come forward.

The ticket from Saturday night's drawing was sold at Federal Beer on 15th and Federal Streets in South Philadelphia.

"I'm actually having goose bumps," owner Gary Patel said.

Patel said he was shocked when he found out the jackpot-winning ticket came from his store.

"They said you sold the winning jackpot here and I said, 'I don't believe you guys.'"

It's the first time one of the tickets from Federal Beer has won big.

"No nothing over $10,000. Never," Patel said.

For selling the big-time ticket, Patel will receive $100,000, a modest sum compared to the overall winner, but more than enough to make him happy.

"Number one, my employees are going to be happy. I'll make sure they are happy," he said. "Then most of the money is going to go to my kids' fund for college."

On Sunday afternoon, customers couldn't believe their local beer distributor sold the winning ticket.

"That's pretty crazy," Dashiell Davis said. "In Philadelphia in general, that's insane. Jersey had one sold, too. Now Philadelphia's on the map."

Patel says he hopes the winner is somebody that's been to his store before.

"Whoever it is, I hope it's my regular customer."

The winning numbers from Saturday's drawing were 13-19-23-33-57, and the red Powerball 28.

The lucky winner will have the choice of collecting a $131.5 million annuity, or $77.4-million in cash.
