Picture Perfect Start To Summer

By Katie Fehlinger

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The summer season is officially underway and off to a great start! We can thank high pressure, which remains anchored overhead. Expect virtually no cloud cover, light wind and low humidity all day Friday as temperatures climb to the seasonable mid-80s inland and the mid-70s along the shore points. (It's also another great night to give your air conditioner a break as we keep the nice comfort level Friday night!)

We'll start to see an increase in humidity through the weekend, but Saturday still looks fantastic! The CBS3 Eyewitness Weather team is forecasting another sunny day with a high of 86 in Philadelphia. The region as a whole also stays generally clear Saturday night, providing good viewing conditions for the Super Moon ("Super" because it will make its nearest orbit to the Earth, making it appear 12-14% larger than normal).

Enjoy these beautiful, comfortable days while you can! By Sunday, high pressure drifts offshore, sending a more tropical, southerly flow in our direction. As a result, the air will start to feel steamier, making our high of 88 degrees feel more like the mid-90s. We could see a spotty shower or thunderstorm pop up as well. The forecast heats up even more next week as we flirt with or achieve 90 degrees almost every day.
