Taxi Driver Found Dead Inside Cab In Burlington County

By Elizabeth Hur

BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. (CBS) - Police are trying to find the person who killed a taxicab driver, who was found dead in his cab early Sunday morning in Burlington County.

The man was discovered at the intersection of Route 130 and Jacksonville Road.

Around 2 a.m., police were called to look into what was initially believed to be a car accident with someone trapped inside. The car turned out to be a taxi from the Yellow Cab Company out of Trenton, New Jersey and the victim was the taxi driver.

Authorities have told CBS3 Eyewitness News they are investigating a confirmed homicide. They are not saying how the man died, but sources say colleagues last saw the victim picking up a fare at the Trenton Transit Center Saturday night.

Friends of the driver say they can't imagine why anyone would hurt the victim, who they describe as a hard-working driver and a loving father.

Authorities say they will not be releasing any updates on this case until at least Monday.
