Man Killed In Boating Accident In South Jersey

WATERFORD, N.J. (AP) — State police say a man has died in an apparent boating accident in southern New Jersey's Pinelands region.

The man, identified only as a 61-year-old Burlington County resident, was with his son in a remote area of the Wharton State Forest in Waterford when the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. But further details on the accident were not disclosed.

Canoeing and kayaking are popular in the rivers and streams of the forest, which spans more than 100,000 acres and is the largest tract of land in New Jersey's state park system.

State police say a cause of death has not been determined, and the accident remains under investigation.
