9 Hospitalized After Bus Crashes Into Utility Pole In Gloucester County

MULLICA HILL, N.J. (CBS) – Officials are investigating what caused a bus with children on board to crash into a utility pole in Gloucester County.

The incident occurred at about 8:16 a.m. in the 400 block of Cedar Road at Pleasant Valley School.

Officials say the bus driver parked in an empty parking lot next to the school so students could board.

Once the bus was full, the driver made a u-turn and allegedly, struck a light pole.

Police say there were 34 children on the bus. Nine of the students complained of injuries and were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Officials confirm that the parents of the children were contacted and given the option of taking their children home of letting them stay in school.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
