PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Eyewitness News This Morning will broadcast live from the iconic Steel Pier this Thursday, June 13 from 4:30 to 7 a.m. on CBS 3, then from 7 to 9 a.m. on The CW Philly. Anchors Erika von Tiehl, Meteorologist Carol Erickson, (steering CBS 3’s Mobile Weather Lab) and Reporter Nicole Brewer will continue the news team’s ongoing “It’s a Shore Thing” feature with a look at America’s most famous seaside resort.
Highlights from AC will include a live interview with Mallory Hagan, Miss America 2013, and a first day preview of the “World Championship of Sand Sculpting,” a free event that will be launched Thursday and continue through June 30th . The competition, featuring 25 internationally-known sand artists from 17 nations, will feature fantastical sandcastles, portraits and other works of art composed from the 1.2 million plus pounds of sand deposited on the beaches for the competition last weekend.
Also on tap is a look at ACs oldest business, James Salt Water Taffy; a sneak peek at the new rides at Steel Pier, and a private tour of Margaritaville, the Jimmy Buffett and Resorts Casino Hotel project.
At 12 noon, Erickson and Brewer will continue to spotlight Atlantic City on CBS 3’s Talk Philly. Talk Philly will feature experts from Philadelphia Style magazine with a check list of all the “shore-centials” you need for the upcoming season while Von Tiehl dives into the best desserts AC has to offer.
