Taming The Stress Pandemic

By John Ostapkovich

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's Monday morning and, for many of us, it's a time to dive back into the stress of the work week, despite what that stress may be doing to us.

Paul Huljich was a millionaire in organic foods when things unraveled.

"Due to stress and making poor lifestyle choices, I lost everything, most of all my freedom," Huljich said.

Because he was institutionalized, diagnosed as bipolar and looking at a lifetime of medication.

He refused and, through trial and error, developed Plan B with nine steps to master stress.

Exercise is a major component, 60 to 80 minutes a day of brisk walking is his recommendation, and a change to diet.

Huljich says, " if you were to eat more good mood foods as opposed to CRAP, which stands for Caffeine, Refined sugar, Alcohol and Processed foods, you are going to notice a difference."

Other steps in Huljich's handbook, Stress Pandemic, include better management of life choices according to your goals, approval of self and a good night's sleep.
