PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A part of La Salle graduate student’s Master’s thesis is appearing on a Walnut Street Theater stage beginning tonight.

Jennifer Hoffmaster , nearing her masters in Central and Eastern European Studies, could have done a regular thesis paper but she and her faculty advisor settled on the United States premier of A Little Play About Betrayal for One Actress (that’s its’ name) instead.

It’s set in Ukraine after independence and features a woman injured in protests dealing with her situation and that of the nation.

Much to everyone’s surprise, independence was not the end but the beginning.

“A lot of the people in Ukraine right after independence thought, okay we’re independent, but now we have to build up our economy. We have to build up our military. We have to make a Constitution and this play really reflects a lot of that, that we’re independent but we have a lot fo work to do.”

The play is tonight, tomorrow and Saturday at 7.
