Popular Summer Kickoff Event Postponed Following Building Collapse

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Due to a deadly building collapse, a much-anticipated summer event has been postponed.

Center City Sips begins Wednesday, and the officially kickoff party was slated to happen at Pagano's at 20th and Market Streets.

But following the building collapse on Wednesday morning at 22nd and Market Streets that killed one person, the event has been postponed until next week.

The Center City District posted on Facebook around 4 p.m. on Wednesday:

"Out of respect for the tragic situation from today's building collapse on the 2100 block of Market Street and the request from the police to minimize non-essential activities in that area, the Sips Kickoff Party scheduled for tonight at Pagano's Market & Bar, 20th and Market Streets, has been postponed until Wednesday, June 12."

All 88 Sips locations, including Pagano's, will be open for regular Sips however.

Sips happens every Wednesday throughout the summer.
