He Carried Bobby Jones’ Bag In The ’30 Amateur
Today our features on Merion took us back to the archives… and while it wasn’t a US Open, perhaps the biggest moment in Merion history — and in all of golf — was the day that Bobby Jones wrapped up the Grand Slam in 1930.
Back in 1989 I sat down with the man who had caddied for Jones that week long ago. Some fun memories are in a podcast which you can find here at TeeItUpPhilly.com.
Tomorrow: some thoughts on Merion from defending US Open champ Webb Simpson, who loves everything about the golf course.
Ed Abrams anchors mornings on KYW Newsradio, and you can hear his Golf Reports there on Fridays and Saturdays. He has also created a pair of websites: www.DealTrackerGolf.com, featuring leads on the best online golf equipment deals… and www.TeeItUpPhilly.com, with video course tours, audio swing tips and local golf deals.
