Wildwood Boardwalk Brawl Caught On Tape

WILDWOOD (CBS) -- A boardwalk brawl at the Jersey shore is caught on tape just as the summer season gets underway in a town is trying to clean up its image. The wild scene took place on the boardwalk in Wildwood, New Jersey.

By now, fights recorded on cell phones and posted to you YouTube, happen often enough they don't always make the news.

But this particular fight is proof, "That's crazy," says Wildwood mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr.

"I am tired of the bad image that Wildwood gets because of a couple of stupid kids," said Troiano.

Just last week the mayor said in the name of decency and safety he is proposing when on Wildwood's boardwalk shoes or flip flops must be on at all times, a shirt must be on between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. and pants, swim shorts and skirts must not hang more than three inches below the waste.

Beachgoers are divided, but the mayor expects the new city ordinance to pass on June 12th and vows to shirtless visitors wearing saggy pants, like the individuals seen in the latest brawl video, will be thrown off the boardwalk before they can start trouble.

"I hope I don't have to ask one kid to leave and I hope I don't have to give one kid a ticket," said Troiano. "Let's hope they listen, they pay attention and have respect for everyone else on the boardwalk that thinks it's offensive."

Police are working to identify the individuals in the boardwalk brawl video and hold them accountable.

The mayor said, "When you think Wildwood, think zero tolerance."
