National Burger Chain May Soon Come Out With 'Philly' Pretzel Burgers
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a rumor that a national burger chain may soon be coming up with a pretzel burger.
Wendy's executives said via email that they can't comment on the pretzel burger rumor because they don't have the product in any of their restaurants yet.
But if you want a pretzel burger, you can get one right here in Philly at PYT restaurant.
"It's the cheesesteak pretzel roll and it's a beef patty with cheddar cheese, cheesesteak meat, cheese wiz and a pretzel roll," says Chef Kim Malcolm.
Manager Malcolm Kenyatta says it seems the Wendy's menu is lagging.
"They're a little behind the times but that's fine," says Kenyatta.
"I would say it's been around for at least 3 ½ years now. We've been open for four," says Malcolm.
"If we can inspire Wendy's, like they should just look at our whole menu! When does Wendy want to come down herself and come see what else we have?" says Kenyatta.
But will they be able to match PYT's local flavor?
"They're made from Philly Soft Pretzel Factory so it'll be good, but it's not gonna be the best," says Malcom.
Reporter: "So beat that Wendy's!"
Malcolm: "Yeah. You can try! I don't know if you'll succeed but you can try!"
