EAST BERLIN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a 5-year-old boy has died after a tractor wheel fell on him while he was playing in a barn on his family’s central Pennsylvania farm.

The accident happened Thursday evening in Washington Township. York County Deputy Coroner Steve Cosey says Jacob Nell was playing when the wheel fell over and pinned him on the ground. The wheel was not attached to a tractor.

The boy was taken to York Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. Cosey says the cause of death is blunt force chest trauma.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating how it happened.
