Soul With Key Showdown Against 9-1 Arizona

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It should be a lot of fun on Saturday night at the Center as the Philadelphia Soul entertain the Arizona Rattlers in Arena Football League action.

Philadelphia looks to be putting things together after an up-and-down start, as they come into this game having won their last two over Orlando and Tampa Bay in impressive fashion to improve to 5-4 on the season.

"We've played well in a lot of aspects of the game," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "All three phases are playing well. As long as we can keep that going and this is obviously a big test for us with Arizona coming to town."

Arizona is an AFL-best 9-1 on the season and Dolezel says that makes this the biggest game of the season for his squad.

"No question," Dolezel says. "We've talked about it . . this is why you play football games. I don't think there is a bigger match-up around the league this week."

What makes this Rattlers squad so good?

"They have a lot of veterans," Dolezel says. "They're a big solid, strong football team. They've got a great coach. They don't have any weaknesses. They let you beat yourself and they can pour it on when they need to, as far as offensively. And then they can get after the quarterback with the pass rush and they've got a veteran secondary. So there's a reason they are 9-1, they are a great football team."

Something else to watch in this game, Soul running back Derrick Ross needs just 55 yards rushing to set the Arena Football League career mark. He has 1,517 career yards. The all-time record is held by Bo Kelly with 1,571.

Philadelphia and Arizona kick-off at 7:05pm on Saturday night.
