Phillies Look For Second Straight Win Vs. Red Sox

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After splitting a pair of games up at Fenway Park, the Phillies and Red Sox will battle again Wednesday night, but this will be the first of two games at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies will have a new face on the roster for this game as 2B Cesar Hernandez has been recalled from AAA Lehigh Valley. He is filling the roster spot of 3B Michael Young who has been placed on the bereavement list. Hernandez has emerged as a top prospect in the Phillies' system, hitting .308 this season for the Iron Pigs with 28 runs scored and 15 stolen bases.

Hernandez is not, however, in tonight's starting line-up which looks like this:

1. Ben Revere CF

2. Kevin Frandsen 2B

3. Jimmy Rollins SS

4. Ryan Howard 1B

5. Delmon Young RF

6. Domonic Brown LF

7. Erik Kratz C

8. Freddy Galvis 3B

On the mound and batting ninth for the Phillies will be RHP Kyle Kendrick. He is 4-3 this season with a 3.29 ERA, but he has struggled in his last two starts - going 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA and eight walks in 11 innings of work.

The Red Sox give the ball to right-hander John lackey who is 3-4 this season, but he sports a fine 2.72 ERA in seven starts.

The Phillies bring a 25-27 record into action on Wednesday. They remain third in National League East, 6 1/2 games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Corey Seidman of PhilliesNation.com about the match-up.
