Delaware County SPCA Offering Free Pet Adoptions For Vets And Military Families

MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) – A Delaware County animal shelter is offering a special deal for veterans this Memorial Day weekend.

Veterans and active military family members can adopt an adult pet for free from the Delaware County SPCA throughout the weekend. They will also be eligible for a 25% discount off puppy and kitten adoption fees.

Additionally, the Delco SPCA is hosting a donation drive for servicemen, women and dogs currently stationed overseas. Shelter visitors are encouraged to bring dog toys and treats for service dogs and Philly-themed items for servicemen and women. A bin will be located in the shelter lobby where potential adopters and visitors can drop off items.

The SPCA says the free adoptions apply to pets seven months and older. Veterans and military families must show proof of service, such as a family photo.

And even if you aren't or haven't served overseas, the Delco SPCA is still offering a weekend special. If you adopt one kitten, you'll get the second at half off the adoption fee.
