Nurse Attacked Outside Cooper University Hospital

CAMDEN N.J., (CBS) -- Police say a nurse was attacked by a woman at Cooper University Hospital Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 12:43 p.m. in Camden.

Camden County Police say 26-year-old Monique Moore, of Camden, was walking by the hospital when she allegedly began yelling at a nurse who was standing outside in a courtyard on break.

Authorities say Moore allegedly charged at the victim, grabbed her and began punching her in the head and face while allegedly yelling angrily about the medical profession. Moore then allegedly smashed the victim's face into a brick wall.

Police say a passerby saw what was happening and pulled Moore off of the victim.

A Cooper University Health Care spokesperson says the employee was taken into the emergency department and treated for her injuries.

Authorities say Moore had two minor children with her at the time of the arrest. They have been released to the custody of the Division of Youth and Family Services, said police.

Moore has been charged with third degree aggravated assault.

She is being held on $20,000 cash or bond bail.
