2nd Annual Love Your Park Week Offers Plethora Of Events For All
By Justin Udo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Saturday marks the last day for festivities at the 2nd Annual Love Your Park Week, but there are still plenty of activities going on at more than 25 parks.
Parks all across the city are offering free events that cater to all ages.
"There are bird walks. There are different hikes that are happening. There are some gardening workshops. There was even a mother-daughter beading workshop; really a lot of environmental things, but also around healthy eating and active living as well," says Kathryn Ott-Lovell, the executive director of the Fairmount Park Conservancy.
Lovell says the main purpose of this week is to help people understand the importance of parks and how they contribute to the economic and community developments of neighborhoods.
