PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia has been selected as the site for a two-day evangelistic crusade set for this fall.

The Harvest Crusade, based in Riverside, California, announced Thursday it will bring its message of hope and faith to the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia on September 28 and 29th.

John Collins, the organization’s executive director, says, “We’re kind of a catalytic moment or event for the churches to rally around and to be able to present the Gospel in the public square to the community.”

Collins says the crusade is meant to complement, not compete with the Christian churches in the area.

“We all have core beliefs that we share and so that’s what we try to emphasize is that we don’t look at our distinctives as we come into these types of events. We want to rally around the very core message of the Gospel.”
