PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — On Saturday, May 25th, an original musical production of “Cinderella” comes to the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater.

Laurie Wagman

And it’s a beloved story.

“’Cinderella’ is always everybody’s favorite. It’s just the most magical show ever. And why? Because I really think it’s filled with hope, and magic, and wishes that come true. And that’s what it’s all about,” says Laurie Wagman, the founder of the American Theater Arts for Youth.

But Wagman says this is not a 21st-century “Cinderella.”

“Ours is the classic ‘Cinderella.’ When American Theater Arts for Youth does these childhood classics, we do NOT try to update them. That is a prime element of our shows,” she explains.
