Self-Described 'Worst Guy Ever' Sentenced To 30 Years For Break-in, Rape Of Ex-Girlfriend

PAULSBORO, NJ (CBS) – A Paulsboro man whose ex-girlfriend called him a "monster" has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.

David A. Richardson, 39, of Paulsboro, was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey state prison on Friday for breaking into his ex's Woodbury apartment on Jun 20, 2010 and raping her twice, all while wielding a kitchen knife and punching her in the face.

The victim, a single mother of a teenage daughter, told the judge before the sentencing that she still has sleepless nights and that she and her daughter are both scared of another break-in. She also said Richardson "did what he could to intimidate me during the trial" and barraged her with phone calls from jail before the trial.

"I believe David Richardson is a monster and should be put behind bars," she said.

Richardson was sentenced for first-degree aggravated sexual assault during a burglary, which earned him 20 years in state prison. Richardson's received a consecutive 10 year sentence for his conviction on second-degree aggravated sexual assault. Sentences for simple assault, burglary, false imprisonment, theft, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief were all concurrent terms.

According to Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Staci Scheetz, Richardson said during an examination that " once the honeymoon is over.. I'm the worst guy ever."
