Delaware LGBT Group Expects Same Sex Marriage To Be Boon For Business

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Now that Delaware has passed same sex marriage, those who work closely with the gay and lesbian community say they expect couples to flock to their state to tie the knot, which will be a big boost to local business.

Executive Director of CAMP (Create a More Positive) Rehoboth Steve Elkins says his phone has been ringing off the hook.

"Well, you know if you are going to get married in this area, why wouldn't you want to do it at the beach? Civil unions brought a great influx of business for not only in the beach area, but statewide and we know marriages are going to do even better, because now you no longer have to go to Maryland or New York."

He says it will be a boon to local business.

"I've had calls all week, with people who are not only officiates for weddings but photographers, florists and others who say 'hey, we want to get our name in the pot!' It's going to give the beach community so much more shoulder season business then we've had with anything."
