Chemical Spill Forces Evacuation Of Absegami High School


GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – An Atlantic County high school was evacuated Thursday morning after the report of a chemical spill.

The incident happened shortly before 9 a.m. at Absegami High School in Galloway Township, New Jersey.

According to police, all students and staff were evacuated after the report of a chemical spill on the second floor of the school. It was not immediately known where the spill occurred, but chemistry labs are apparently on the second floor.

Authorities say five students were taken to the hospital at the request of their family members, but there were no reported serious injuries.

The Atlantic County Hazmat team was called to the scene as a precaution.

The cause of the spill is still under investigation.
