Local Restaurants Serve Up Unique Burgers During Competition

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Beef patties, special sauce, lettuce and cheese were just a few of the ingredients used as area restaurants duked it out Sunday in the 3rd Annual Burger Brawl.

"Brioche bun, Russian dressing, charred onions and English cheddar," this eater adds.

There were 28 restaurants competing in this year's brawl, and they all had their own unique twist to how they served their hamburgers.

"An English Muffin with Lancaster Angus steak half a pound with Boursin cheese and carmalized onions," this man said.

Judges and contestants alike were looking for something new in their burgers.

"Everyone enjoys a burger with cheese, ketchup and whatever, but I need something that's so over the top that i can't even wrap my mind around it. Just the taste goes with it. It has to be good, you know? The presentation, visually and the taste," this burger enthusiast said.

Some people, like this woman, really worked up an appetite before enjoying their burgers:

"I ran in the Broad Street Run today and I will not feel guilty eating at every station."

The money raised from the Burger Brawl goes to help build a computer lab at a Philadelphia school, and the winner of the brawl walks away with a $5,000 check.
