Wednesday's Child: Nelson

By Larry Kane
Produced by Timothy McLaughlin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — At 12 years old, Nelson loves video games.  He plays them all.

"Teen games, Call of Duty..."

He also likes playing football, and would love to play professionally one day.

Nelson's social worker, Melany Hill, says they're looking for a devoted family for him:

"A family that's patient, a family that is going to advocate for him in school as well as in the community.  And a family that's going to provide a structured environment.  And I think, above all of those, is one that's open to maintaining contact with his brother."

Gloria Hochman, of the National Adoption Center, based in Philadelphia, agrees that Nelson would benefit from the structure of a family.

"Nelson would do very well with a two-parent household where he could be the only child or where there could be older children that could serve as good role models for him.  Other children would be particularly wonderful because they would draw him out, and that would be something that Nelson would benefit from."
