Battleship New Jersey, Boy Scouts Team Up For Annual Ride For Pride Event

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Battleship New Jersey and Boy Scout Troop 54 of Lindenwold, Camden County teamed up for Its annual Ride for Pride event.

The fundraiser encouraged motorcyclists to hop on their bikes and ride to the battleship where they were rewarded with a BBQ and a tour of the ship.

The smoke from the BBQ filled the air as hundreds of bikers packed onto the pier of the Battleship New Jersey.

They rode almost 100 miles on a course that started in Cherry Hill and took them throughout South Jersey, before ending in Camden.

Scott Pettersen made the ride with wife Tracy and his daughter Chloe.

"Having a nice day is great but being on two wheels instead of four is always better. It's a good ride for a good cause. Boys scouts come to the battleship; you can't go wrong."

Other riders seemed to share those feelings.

"We've just enjoyed the weather, we've enjoyed meeting all the different riders and people and stuff. It's just been a blessing."

Proceeds from the event will go to The Battleship New Jersey and the Boy Scouts.
