PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office hosted a Day of Healing and Hope for victims of crime and for people who’ve lost loved ones to homicide.

Speakers talked to people about healing techniques through writing, art, music, spirituality and advocacy.

Linda Burkett is a victim witness coordinator at the Camden County Prosecutors Office and says it’s about creating a sense of community.

“It’s to discuss, share their stories, learn some new ways of coping, learn to rely upon other people and celebrate their resilience

Patricia Goebel’s son lost her son to a violent crime. She wrote a book entitled; ‘We Are Their Voices’.

“Being here among the people who I have so much in common with it’s a strong bond. I feel that this was a necessary day to have.”

The event also had activities for children, where they did projects to help them learn how to cope with their grief.
