By Al-Qumar Atkins, Todd Quinones

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are searching for a man they say was harassing women in the area of Philadelphia University.

According to police, the driver of a green Jeep Liberty, similar to the vehicle pictured below, has been approaching 18 to 26-year-old women around Philadelphia University and asking them inappropriate questions.

Allegedly, in one incident, he exposed himself to one of the victims.

Police say the first incident occurred on April 18 around 1 p.m., with four other incidents happening on April 24 between noon and 1 p.m.

The Philadelphia Police Department has stepped up patrols with uniformed and undercover officers around the campus.

"I'm concerned because I commute so I'm in the parking lot late at night, so it kind of worries me," said Allison Griffin, a student.

He pulls up along the 3100 block of Schoolhouse Lane near campus and starts by asking students for directions.

"Then the comments become increasingly sexually oriented, and in at least one incident he actually exposes himself," Philadelphia Police Capt. John Darby said.

Philadelphia University did send an email to students warning them about the man making lewd comments and gestures.

The suspect has been described as a bald 40 to 50-year-old white male with a stocky build, brown/graying beard and glasses.

"Overall I think the campus is really safe compared to other places. I think I'm fines," said Dorthea Sturgell, also a student.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251, 215-685-3252 or 215-685-3253.
