Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans Happy With Selection Of Lane Johnson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans joined Michael Barkann and Ike Reese on Sportsradio 94WIP Friday and talked about his new teammate and 4th overall pick, offensive tackle Lane Johnson.

"I think it was definitely a need that we needed to address, our offensive line. As you see last year, our offensive line was depleted. We were using backups to the backups last year and there is definitely a need there. I think it was a good pick. I think it was a really good pick. I think he [Lane Johnson] can come in and provide depth to our offensive line. We got guys back from injury -- Jason Peters and Todd [Herremans], those guys are back, but you can't have enough depth on your offensive line because those guys get banged up a lot. And that's where the game is won. As I watched the entire draft last night, you see o-line, d-line gone, that's where the game is won, in the trenches. So seeing a lot of teams addressing that front line, that's very important. You see teams building for the future by getting these offensive and defensive lineman in there."

The Eagles' next pick in the draft comes Friday night, as they hold the 35th overall pick and the 3rd pick in the second round. Ryans thinks the Eagles should continue to add depth to the line of scrimmage.

"I am not sure. As you see, I think you go and get the best player available. I think we just need to add as much depth as we can, just add a good solid football player. I'm not sure if that's another player on the defensive line or offensive line, I would say you still go in that o-line, d-line group and add some more depth to those guys."
