PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A lockdown was put into effect this morning, then lifted about an hour later, at a North Philadelphia elementary school after a trespasser was seen inside the school.
A school district spokeswoman says the lockdown went into effect about 8:45am at Bethune Elementary School, 3301 Old York Road, when a man without permission was spotted inside the school.
The spokeswoman says the man was arrested later outside the school building and charged with trespassing.
The lockdown was lifted at 9:45 am. There was no immediate word on the man’s name or what he was doing inside the school.
