PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding the man they say invaded an elderly woman’s house and sexually assaulted her.

The incident occurred just after midnight on April 11, 2013 on the 7900 block of Loretta Avenue in the Rhawnhurst section of the city.

According to police, the suspect parked a white Toyota Celica and entered the home of a 63-year-old woman.

Officials report that once the suspect was inside the house and found the victim he began sexually assaulting her.

Allegedly, when the female began to struggle the suspect struck her in the head with a hammer several times, then fled when the victim began to scream.

The suspect has been described as a 5-foot-7, 20-year-old, Hispanic male with an average build and a long, thick ponytail. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, faded blue jeans and an Atlanta Braves baseball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 215-686-TIPS (8477).
