Man Shot Dead In North Philly

By Jenn Bernstein, Al Novack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police say a man is dead after he was shot multiple times late Sunday night in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philadelphia.

The incident happened on the 3100 block of West Montgomery Avenue just after 11:30 p.m at what police believe is a refurbished clubhouse.

The 34-year-old victim was reportedly shot at least eight times in the face, chest and neck at what appears to be point-blank range. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they are questioning two witnesses who were at the scene.

"They're cooperative and we immediately transported them right to homicide where they're being questioned by homicide detectives," Chief Inspector Scott Small said. "It's not a very big room, so whoever was in there at the time of the shooting, I'm sure they know what happened.

Police say the men are being considered witnesses as of now, not suspects.

Police also found several area businesses that had private surveillance cameras out. They will be checking those for evidence.
